Natural skin care information: what you need to know

Our skin is actually well equipped to take care of itself, just like every other organ in the body.
Did you know that the skin is the largest organ in the body?
In addition to using common sense, here are some proven tips that you can use to rejuvenate and revitalize your skin.

Taking care of your skin has become a modern concern because of the changing ideals of what it means to be "beautiful". We are constantly bombarded with TV and Internet ads about "true beauty", "perfect skin, ageless or youthful appearance". It is not easy to ignore what magazines and TV channels tell you, but to have a critical eye on everything we should learn the truth about beauty products and know the fundamentals of having beautiful and radiant skin.

It is our first line of protection from the elements and is also largely responsible for resistance to viruses, bacteria and foreign contaminants. Imagine this beautiful material that is waterproof but lets out water, oil and sweat. It is strong but delicate, flexible and penetrable. It is the last protective coat. As such it works with a finely tuned system.

It also provides clues to our physical, mental and psychological state. Many years ago I was shocked when my facial therapist learned that I was having problems in my uterus by looking at only a few very mild rashes around my mouth. When we use skin care products and cosmetic products with synthetic chemicals, we actually begin to cause an imbalance in this finely tuned system. The best way to preserve this natural system is to be very selective about what we put on our skin.

1. Diet:

It is essential for healthy skin. Remember that the skin reflects what is happening in our body and a healthy body will be reflected on your skin. The nutrients in plant-based foods such as fruit, vegetables, nuts, legumes will nourish your skin and provide all the components to have a young and radiant skin. In addition to being essential for the digestive system, fiber-rich foods are also rich in antioxidants and flavonoids.

2. Sleep:

it is essential for healthy skin. In fact, people who don't get enough sleep are more likely to age prematurely and show signs of line earlier than people who get enough sleep at night. The skin regenerates during sleep. So having an uninterrupted and quality daily sleep is fundamental not only for general health but also for healthy and clear skin.

3. Water:

We cannot stress enough the importance of water to keep skin healthy, soft, smooth and toned. The recommended daily intake of water is at least half a liter of purified water. If you train, drink even more. When you start drinking 60 to 80 ounces of water every day, you will start to see a difference in the appearance of your skin within 3 days.

4. Exercise:

Exercise is a must for many reasons and your skin's health is one of them. Exercise will improve circulation in your body and increase body heat. The heat produced during the exercise will attract more blood to the surface of the skin, in return increasing the capillary circulation of the skin. This will provide more nourishment therefore a better complexion.

5. Vitamin C:

the skin is made up of 2 constituent elements of collagen and elastin and can be produced only from fibroblast cells with the use of vitamin C. You can apply vitamin C directly to the skin or ingest it. Vitamin C serum is very popular lately to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. These serums are likely to be consumed fast enough so as not to lose their valuable content which will nourish the skin. Vitamin C also comes in the form of creams, lotions and oils.

There are several foods that contain high amounts of this "youthful" vitamin. The fruit of the rosehip contains it 14 times more than the oranges. Kiwis, parsley leaves, papaya, strawberries, grapefruits and dark green leafy vegetables like spinach are some others containing vitamin C. You can eat them raw, use them in juices and smoothies, or less preferably cook with them.

6. Sun protection:

It is essential to protect our outer layer from UV exposure to the sun. While sun exposure is essential for vitamin D intake, overexposure to sunlight is widely accepted as an underlying cause of harmful effects on the skin, eyes and immune system. UV damage is mostly avoidable by using solar blockers. Apply a minimum sunscreen of SPF 15+ freely and reapply every two hours or after working, swimming, playing or exercising outdoors. Before going to bed do not forget to wash off any sunscreen cream that you have applied on your face and body during the day. Also wear protective clothing for the sun (sunglasses, hat, tight-fitting tight-fitting clothing). The UV rays of the sun are the strongest between 10 and 16, so avoid those hours when you can take your daily dose of vitamin D. Usually 10 minutes of vitamin D in the sun is enough ... more than this starts to become harmful to unprotected skin.

7. Probiotics:

They are "good" or "useful" bacteria because they help keep your intestines healthy and make the digestive system work the way Nature intended it. Not surprisingly, they also have unrelated benefits to the stomach. They create a barrier to reduce inflammation, so they help to give clear skin in general. Taking probiotic supplements, among many other benefits for your body, will give your skin overall radiance. Some people claim that applying Greek yogurt directly to the skin once a week for 10 minutes, as a homemade mask helps to have less acne lesions.

8. Makeup or not?:

In addition to damage to the skin caused by environmental pollution and radiation, heavy and pore-free makeup is an important component in the premature aging of our skin. Neglecting to remove makeup at night is a criminal act towards purity of the skin and general health. It is ideal not to use heavy makeup, regardless of what the expensive makeup label would tell you. Keep in mind that layering the makeup over the silicone-based products makes the skin suffocating. Wow, we don't want it at all costs! When your skin isn't breathing, it can't stay young for long.

9. Cleaning:

It is also essential to carry out adequate cleaning every evening before applying the moisturizer. Night is the recovery time for our body, for our nervous system and more. And the skin cells are no different. You need to cleanse your skin for the repair and rejuvenation process that occurs in the dark while we sleep. In addition, it is important to hydrate the skin before going to bed. You can use natural elements like coconut oil or choose the cream only with natural components made.

Our skin is waterproof but does not mean that it cannot absorb chemicals and toxins. Current studies show that human skin can absorb up to 60% of everything we put on the surface of the skin. This would be a good scenario if all we put on the skin is water. However, times have changed and people are putting more and more synthetic chemicals on the skin through lotions, creams, ointments, emollients, etc.

Bottom line...

The most important advice we can give to people who want to preserve young-looking skin is to practice moderation with everything they do. This includes the purchase and application of different skin care products. Your skin is not a scientific project. Don't experiment with different products to see how it goes. If you want to find out which types of products are suitable for your skin, consult a dermatologist and inform the dermatologist that you would prefer natural skin care over anything else. Your dermatologist will be able to point you to the appropriate products.

Another important reminder is to watch what you eat. Few people know that what you eat actually has a big impact on the skin. Habits such as alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking can also age the skin faster. If you want your skin to be ten years younger, you have to give up bad lifestyle choices. Your skin (along with all the other organs) will thank you for your decision to transform your lifestyle.

Now it is also imperative to keep your skin hydrated at all times. In case you have dry, flaky skin, using natural emollients would be a good idea. The emollients will form a protective layer of moisture just above the surface of the skin. However, don't use emollients if you already have oily skin. The natural sebum produced by the sebaceous glands will be enough to keep the skin hydrated.

And keep your skin away from the sun. This may seem a little harsh, but exposing unprotected skin to the sun's UV radiation will prematurely age the skin. But not only could it also cause skin cancer. Use sunscreen with SPF minimum 15 when you have fun outdoors in summer but also go to work in winter.
